Kurz nach der Pressekonferenz von Acer hat nun auch Lenovo eines seiner neuen Top-Modelle vorgestellt. Das IdeaTab S2-10″ ist mit seiner Docking-Tastatur die erste echte Alternative zum Asus Transformer und auch das Design ist überzeugend. Statt des Tegra-3-Chips kommt der 1,5GHz Snapdragon MSM8960 Dual-Core-Prozessor von Qualcomm zum Einsatz, der durch 1GB Arbeitsspeicher unterstützt wird. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ist bereits an Bord und wurde durch die sogenannte Mondrian-Benutzeroberfläche etwas angepasst. Mit ca. 8,46mm ist es zwar nicht ganz so dünn wie das Transformer Prime, doch dafür ist es mit einem Gewicht von 499 Gramm sehr leicht.
Das 10,1-Zoll-Display hat eine Auflösung von 1280×800 Pixeln und ist dank IPS-Technologie aus vielen Blickwinkeln gut ablesbar. Auf der Rückseite befindet sich eine 8-Megapixel-Kamera, vorne ist eine 1,3-Megapixel-Frontkamera untergebracht. Es wird Versionen mit 16GB, 32GB und 64GB internem Speicher geben, bei denen jeweils auch die Erweiterung durch microSD-Karten möglich ist.
Beim IdeaTab S2-10″ ist zudem ein micro-HDMI-Port zu finden, der für die Übertragung von HD-Inhalten an den Fernseher verwendet werden kann. Beim geplanten 3G-Modell wird es einen SIM-Kartenslot geben. Wie gewohnt werden auch die Standards WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR und GPS/AGPS unterstützt.
Mit der “Mondrian UI” hat Lenovo eine eher außergewöhnliche Oberfläche entwickelt. Auf dem Homescreen gibt es rechteckige Widgets für Einstellungen, Apps und weitere Funktionen. Es wird sowohl Zugang zum regulären Android Market als auch zum Lenovo App Store geben. Die Cloud-Lösung des Herstellers wird den Nutzern des Tablets ebenfalls zur Verfügung stehen.
Dank der Docking-Tastatur kann die Akkulaufzeit des IdeaTab S2-10″ von 9 Stunden auf insgesamt 20 Stunden erhöht werden. Neben der zusätzlichen Batterie bietet das Keydock auch 2 vollwertige USB-Anschlüsse und einen SD-Kartenslot.
Zunächst soll das Lenovo IdeaTab S2-10″ nur in China auf den Markt kommen, andere Länder werden aber später folgen. Es wurde leider auch noch kein Preis genannt, doch dies wird sicherlich in Kürze nachgeholt.
